How can we make our ministries more effective? How can we create and carry out new and important ministries at and through Midway Hills Christian Church? Can we really afford to do anything important about racism or bring about restorative justice in our community?
Difficult questions sometime have very simple answers. In this case, we can do more and be more effective and make a real difference in justice in the Dallas area. How you ask? Simple – give more.
Give more of your time, talent and resources and we can do amazing things.
Join our Justice Committee. Talk to your friends and co-workers about important issues that the church is trying to do something positive about. Create new and unique ways to deliver our message to others. Sing in the choir or sing to the world your beliefs and what they mean.
Change happens when we create change.
The nagging question is: how can I do this? Most of us do not feel that we have the skills and aptitude to take on issues that we care about and we feel powerless to act on them. But the truth is that we have many people in our congregation who have done these kinds of things and they are challenged with helping the rest of us get ready to feel empowered to do likewise.
Generosity is more than just money. It’s about powers shared, skills shared and lives shared that make a difference and help bring God’s Kin-dom to reality right here, right now.
I invite you to increase your generosity and extend yourself with all of your giving. Yes, that includes money, but not to the exclusion of the rest. We all have gifts to bring to the table each week. Perhaps now is the time to “up our game”.
