A Message from Rev. Kathy Bouchard:
General Assembly was an enjoyable mix of reconnecting with long-time friends and meeting new friends from around the country and Canada. It was interesting to hear them talk about the challenges that their congregations are experiencing as well as the many ways that they are experiencing new life as they face those challenges with bold and creative efforts. It was good to share stories of Midway Hills with them. Often, our conversations ended with the words, “I will hold you and your congregation in prayer,” recognizing that God is the key player in all that we do as Church.
It was especially exciting to visit the exhibit hall and explore the many ways that our denomination is present around the globe as well as learning about the efforts for social justice, environmental causes, and reconciliation in our own country. Mission efforts that our congregation supports financially are making a difference in many places and in many ways. This coming Sunday, our worship will focus on ways that we are present in Africa, particularly the Democratic Republic of Congo. We’ll sing some songs from Africa accompanied by Greg Nunn, Arthur Stewart, and some of the children from Saturday’s Vacation Church School Journey to the Congo. You won’t want to miss the joyful noise as we praise God, the Creator of all!
