As I take a breather from Christmas Eve preparations, I thought I’d impose myself on you for a meal.
When I began my tenure here at Midway Hills in 2012, I invited myself out to lunch, over for dinner, to meet for coffee, or to discover a new brunch place with every family/group/pair/person in the congregation. Most of you took me up on it, and the first year I was here, I broke a lot of bread and got to know a lot of people.
It’s time for Round Two.
If you have joined the church in the last three or four years, or if we’ve never masticated en masse up til now, please hit me up and let’s remedy that. I am available many Sundays after church, and some nights during the week. I do note that I now live in Cedar Hill (which is just south of San Antonio) but I can be amenable, especially to hospitable church folks.
It is a good time for us to get to know one another, to hear and share stories, and build relationship by embracing the mysteries of our faith in something both simple and holy. And if you’re a long timer and we have eaten together—well, let’s be honest. I’m neither proud nor full. I’d love to dine with you also.
This Sunday, we light the final new candle for Advent—Mystery. Then, at 7 p.m., we celebrate Christmas Eve. It’s a full day. It’s been a full year. And God keeps calling us to Something More. I look forward to seeing you Sunday.
