A message from Zane Ridings, Minister-in-Training:
Pride parade is coming up this Sunday, and we are so fortunate to be able to show our love and support of the entire Dallas area LGBTQ+ community as a church. On top of our regular marchers, we are also fortunate to have the Garland Diversity Alliance joining us to march. Because of all of these opportunities, many people have already offered to help with many of the various components. Justin and Chantel will be holding our spot with Justin’s pick-up, Sheila Collins, with the help of Martha Johnson, will be providing lunch for the marchers. John Leslie, and Paul Johnson will be providing transportation. We still need a few more people to help provide transportation, hopefully people with large-ish cars and at least some knowledge of the Cedar Springs area. We are also trying to get a better count of who all will be marching, so that we can best organize food and transportation. If you haven’t told Zane that you are marching yet, please do so via e-mail or phone call.
On top of all of our exciting preparations for Pride, we will also be worshiping together Sunday morning, with music and prayers designed to invite us into a common worship asking the question “what are you doing here?” alongside our text for this Sunday. We will examine the continuing saga of Elijah and how God appeared to him and bolstered him when his duties were too overwhelming and life-threatening. Please join us for both worship and marching in the Pride parade so that we can try and answer together what it is we are doing here at Midway Hills Christian Church, and why it matters.
Peace and Love,
