October 5, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, repeating until November 16, 2021
The Justice Committee is sponsoring a book club that will meet on seven consecutive Tuesday nights at 7:00 p.m., beginning October 5, to discuss the book Anxious to Talk About It: Helping White People Talk Faithfully about Racism. The book consists of seven chapters with a study guide for each chapter. This discussion group for white people will help us better understand how notions such as white privilege and white superiority developed, how these beliefs have become embedded in our culture without our conscious awareness, and how these ideas affect the self-image of Black people, especially children. With the debate about teaching “critical race theory,” this book discussion may help us understand what that’s all about.
